Trad Thursday

So, my friends, I have been working hard around the house today and I wanted to share with you some of the things I have been making.

Homemade Laundry Soap

I used to make the liquid version of this but I have been meaning to try a powdered version.

Three bars of grated Ivory soap, 6 cups of Borax and 6 cups of washing soda. It was a simple recipe I found online. Hopefully, it cleans the clothes well.

A note of caution: Borax can be poisonous, even in small doses, so keep it away from small children.

Homemade Multi-purpose Cleaner

This is the old fashioned, Martha Stewart, recipe. One part distilled vinegar to one part hot tap water. I add a few drops of Eucalyptus oil so it smells nice. I reuse store bottles instead of buying new ones. This recipe has worked for me for 20 years. I love it.

Homemade Dog Biscuits

These made the house smell delicious and it drove our Great Pyrenees wild! LOL!

Two cups of flour, one cup of peanut butter and 1/2 cup of smashed banana – mix those together. Add 1/3 cup of chicken stock. The dough will be stiff. Roll it out about a 1/4 – 1/2 inch thick, cut with a cookie cutter into desired shapes, cook at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes.

I bagged them up and placed them on top of the fridge.

Color Coded Dishes

I finally did what most moms of big families do; I bought colored dishes and assigned each child a color (well, actually they picked their color but you get my point!) Each child over 5 years-old is responsible to wash their dish, bowl, cup, etc. after each meal. Amazing!

I hope y’all are having a wonderful Thursday! Much love and stay Trad!

  1. Maybe the rainbow colored dishes aren’t quite the best things to have in your children’s lives.
